Walkley Community Centre is an integral part of Walkley life. It provides support and vital networks for local residents. We are run by a group of volunteers who know and love the role that it plays for the people of Walkley. In Autumn 2019 we commissioned a Sheffield University study to help us understand our community even better and to work out how to improve the local area and the centre. By working together with others such as Walkley Forum, Walkley Festival and Walkley Carnegie Library we hope to build a more resilient community, creating better connections between the various community assets, businesses and people in the area.

In October 2019 we hosted a poetry evening celebrating creative writing talent from around Sheffield, particularly those at Walkley Wordsmiths. This was part of the ‘In Our Day’ dementia project run by Anne Grange for Walkley Library. By having open lines of communication between the centre and the library we were able to share resources and participate in Sheffield’s renown Off the Shelf programme.
